Slope and Trail Report for Northeastern Vermont

Jay Peak Resort

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 30 AT 11:15 AM

Preliminary Report (11:15a)

Thanks to an accumulation of nearly 50" of fresh snow this past week, we are planning for an abudance of trail and lift openings this weekend and into the season beyond. In addition to The Jet, Taxi, and Stateside Carpet lifts (which will all open this Friday and remain open for the season), we plan to run the Metro Lift on Saturday and Sunday for a Tramside Connection, and we'll have the Tramside cafeteria open as well.

Remember that we are closed today, Thursday, November 30th and will open back up tomorrow, Friday, December 1st for the remainder of the season. Temps are rising slightly throughout today, keeping us in the high 20's, but look as though they will drop again tonight, which should allow our snowmakers to continue to hammer the Haynes into Saturday. After this, the goal is to start in on our Bonnie route and get the Bonnaventure Quad in tip top shape for you all in the near future.

Our groomers have been out track packing all of the lower mountain trails and we plan to open several new ones this weekend including Deer Run, Bushwacker, Harmony Lane, Subway, Interstate, Moonwalk, Perry Merrill, Queens Highway, Boulevard, Rabbit, Lower CanAm and Kangaroo. We will also have some features set up in our Shakedown Park on Chalet Meadows. As always, Trail openings are subject to weather, but we have big plans for this weekend to open as much terrain as possible.

This weekend, Saturday December 2nd, marks the beginning of our very first WinterShine, a Festival of Lights and Community. Start your season and set the mood against the welcoming backdrop of thousands of warm shining lights, fireworks, fireside s’mores, ice sculptures, live holiday music, specialty meals, and more. Heavily discounted lodging packages and more event information are available HERE. Book soon, discounts end today.

We can't wait to see you all here tomorrow to enjoy the gifts bestowed upon us from the Jay Cloud this week. Check back here early tomorrow morning for the latest updates before you head up.

Mission Affordable:  Get your hands on a fully transferable 4-pack of 1-day lift ticket with no blackout dates, for around $80 a ticket. Use them all for yourself or share them with your friends and family. Purchases must be made online, read more about it HERE.

Updated Safety Notes: We plan to open both of our designated Uphill Routes tomorrow, Friday December 1st. You uphillers will be able to enjoy both our Northway and Ullr's trails. Have fun out there, but please leave your dogs somewhere safe and sound (like, home, for example) while you head up. Important piece to note in our policy, Uphill Travel is only recommended during operating hours. The last thing our grooming staff needs to worry about is seeing you through a cloud of snow, ice, trees, and such. It's their hill at night and in the early morning hours. Please be respectful and stay off of it during their time. Check out our Uphill Travel Update before you head up.

Happy Monday skiers and riders, we hope that you had a fantastic Christmas whether you were on or off the slopes! Let's keep this holiday week rockin' and rollin' with top-to-bottom turns all day long. Today, base temperatures will begin at 17 degrees and make its way into the low 20's by afternoon, and the summit will start the morning at 9 degrees and top out in the mid-teens as the day progresses. There's even a good chance some snow flurries will make an appearance throughout the day.

The Mid Burke Express, Sherburne Express and Magic Carpet will have hours of 9am-4pm.  Day tickets can be purchased online in advance at skiburke.com/shop, or at the Guest Services Ticket Window located at the Sherburne Base Lodge now open 7-days a week from 8:30am-4pm.

Groomed terrain includes Upper & Big Dipper, High Meadows Pass, Binney Lane and the Learning Area. If you venture down Carriage Road today, please use caution as it is a natural snow trail and hazards do exist.

Christmas may be behind us, but holiday week is just getting started! Check out all the happenings at skiBurke.com/events including Family Trivia Night, a New Year's Eve party in the Tamarack and Yummy Holiday Specials at The View Pub!

Snowmakers have been busy taking advantage of this recent cold weather window and have been working hard stacking piles on Lower Bear Den and Upper Willoughby as we continue efforts to secure another trail off the summit. Stay tuned for updates early this week as to when we anticipate the west side trails debut.

Uphill travel is still closed at this time. Due to limited ride-able terrain and Mountain Ops working around the clock, too many hazards exist to safely earn your turns. We'll let you know as soon as we get the green light! In the meantime, get ahead of the game and sign our Uphill Waiver located on our Uphill Policy page, and keep an eye out for Uphill Armband announcements.
