A Four Season Vacationer's Paradise
As a vacationer's paradise, visitors in the summer months enjoy swimming, boating and fishing, as well as hiking and biking the many trails in the area. The fall brings a tremendous kaleidoscope of foliage. Varieties of maple and birch, as well as beech, grace surrounding mountain ranges and bring forth a brilliant array of color.
In the winter months, snowmobilers pass through the lake area on the VAST Trail that is located at the north end of the lake. Ice climbers enjoy the cliffs along Willoughby Lake The area offers Nordic skiing at the south end of Willoughby State Forest as well as downhill and Nordic skiing at Burke Mountain and Jay Peak Ski Resorts.

Willoughby State Forest is found at the southern end of Lake Willoughby and is comprised of 7,757 acres of woodlands with hiking trails that will bring hkers to elevations of over 2000 feet to enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain ranges and lake front. Seven trails are available on the southern end of Lake Willoughby that comprise over 20 miles of hiking trails in and around Willoughby State Forest.
